Welcome to the Farrel Lytle Memorial Database!

This collection of data represents just about every scan of data ever taken by Farrel, who is probably the most prolific scanner in the business.

These scans are all compressed using the Unix "compress" program, and can be decompressed using the same program (e.g. "compress -d" on Unix systems). Compress/Uncompress programs that are compatible with these files are also available for DOS/Windows, Macintosh, VAX/VMS, and most other platforms as well. Here are files for MS-DOS and Macintosh.

The directory tree "RAW" contains as-collected data in the native format where the data was obtained (e.g. SSRL, CHESS, different NSLS lines, etc.) We have made (a sometimes unsuccessful) attempt to extract the documentation and sort this data according to the edge element. A sleek "periodic table" interface is also available for Netscape users.

The directory tree "PROCESSED" contains data that is reduced to a standard file type (which I have not yet decoded). Note that there is no description of the data in these files, only a reference to the original "raw" data file name. We hope to put together a better directory of this data before long.
