VACANCY NOTICE

Member States of EMBL (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom) are advised that applications are being sought for the following position at the Hamburg Outstation:

STAFF SCIENTIST: ABSORPTION X-RAY SPECTROSCOPY

Duty Station: Hamburg, Germany

Commencing Date: January 1999

Job Description: The EMBL Hamburg Outstation carries out research in structural biology, making use of the special properties of synchrotron radiation. It operates seven beam lines at the DORIS storage ring that are fully available to the international user community and in-house research activities. The current post is in the unit for X-ray absorption spectroscopy (EXAFS).

The successful candidate will be expected:

Qualifications & Experience: Applicants should have a PhD, sufficient postdoctoral training, significant research accomplishments and extensive expertise in spectroscopic methods with synchrotron radiation.

Contract: An initial contract of 3 years' duration will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of the review.
